Privacy & FAQ
Images are opened and edited only in your browser. No image, file name or detected text is sent to the website.
No login is needed and the tool sets no advertising or analytics scripts of its own.
Exports are flattened and free of EXIF, GPS and XMP data. Hidden areas cannot be restored.
Close the tab or clear the workspace and everything is gone from memory.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Every image is opened, edited, blurred and exported inside your own browser. The website only checks whether a feature may be used and never receives your files, names or content.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
The tool works without registration or login. Which features are open, limited or reserved is decided by the website owner.
Is blur really irreversible?
Blur and pixelate here replace the original pixels with a heavily reduced version and the result is flattened into the exported file, so the hidden area cannot be restored. For the most sensitive data such as ID numbers choose Blackout, which cannot be reversed at all.
Does exporting remove EXIF, GPS and other metadata?
Yes. Every export is redrawn from pixels, so camera data, GPS position, XMP and ICC profiles are not carried over. The Metadata tab shows what an image contained and can also strip JPEG files without recompressing them.
Which text and data can be detected automatically?
The built-in scan finds text-like regions on any browser. If the site owner has enabled the optional OCR engine, it can also read text and hide emails, web links, phone numbers, IBAN and card numbers, long ID numbers, dates and MRZ lines. Always review the highlighted boxes before applying them.
Does face and QR detection work in every browser?
Native face and barcode detection depends on your browser. Where it is missing, a simpler on-device scan is used for faces and you can always draw a box manually. Detection is a helper, so please check the result before sharing.
Are the PDF passwords strong?
The PDF is protected with standard 128-bit PDF encryption, suitable to keep casual viewers out. For highly confidential documents also use an encrypted container or an encrypted channel when sending.
Is this suitable for GDPR work?
Because files are processed only on your device, no personal data from your images is transmitted to or stored by this website. You remain responsible for deciding what must be hidden and for how you share the result.
What happens to my images when I close the page?
Nothing is saved. Images live only in browser memory and disappear when you clear the workspace, reload or close the tab. The workspace also clears itself after a period of inactivity if the site owner has enabled that option.
Free image redaction and ID blur tool that works in your browser
Privacy Shield helps you hide sensitive details before you send or publish a photo, screenshot or scan. Blur or black out names, ID and bank numbers, faces, QR codes and passport MRZ lines, remove hidden location and camera data, and combine several images into one PDF with an optional password.
It works on phones and computers, needs no account, and all processing happens on your own device.
How to use it
- Add one or more images by choosing, dragging or pasting them.
- Cover what must stay private with a box, a brush or the auto detect scan, then review the result.
- Download the image as JPG, PNG or WebP, or build a PDF from all pages.
Typical uses
- Sending an ID or passport copy to a bank, landlord or employer, with a watermark that limits misuse.
- Sharing screenshots without account numbers, emails or phone numbers.
- Publishing photos without GPS position or camera details.
- Merging scanned pages into a single protected PDF.
Good to know
Automatic detection is a helper, so always check the highlighted areas before you share. Blackout and pixelate cannot be reversed in the exported file. Because nothing is uploaded, no personal data from your images is sent to or stored by this website, which supports privacy-friendly handling under GDPR. You stay responsible for deciding what must be hidden.
