What is the Budget Planner Dashboard?

It is a free online budget planner that works like a small personal finance app. You add your income and expenses, set spending limits, and the dashboard turns them into charts, a savings rate, a financial health score and clear suggestions.

Because it runs in your browser, it is quick and private.

How to use the budget planner

  1. Open the Transactions tab and add your income and expenses with the date, category and currency.
  2. Go to Budgets and set monthly limits, or apply the 50/30/20 rule or a template with your income.
  3. Return to the Dashboard to see your savings rate, charts, budget progress, health score and insights.
  4. Add goals, bills and debts, then use the Calendar to stay ahead of due dates.
  5. Open Reports at the end of the month, then back up your data from Workspace.

Example: a simple monthly plan

Say your monthly income is $3,000. With the 50/30/20 rule you would plan:

$1,500Needs: rent, utilities, groceries
$900Wants: dining out, entertainment
$600Savings or extra debt payments

The planner calculates these amounts and fills your category limits automatically. If you spend $1,650 on needs, the dashboard warns you early so you can adjust before the month ends.

Tips for a better budget

  • Record spending the same day. Small daily entries are easier than a monthly catch-up.
  • Pay yourself first: set the Savings limit before spending categories.
  • Review the three biggest categories each month; they move your budget the most.
  • Use unused budget to build savings or pay debt, not to raise next month’s limit.
  • Keep a starter emergency fund of one month of expenses, then grow it to three to six months.
  • List every subscription. Cancelling two unused ones can free hundreds a year.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Budget Planner Dashboard free?

Yes. You can use it without paying and without creating an account.

Do I need to connect my bank account?

No. You enter your own numbers, so no banking login or sensitive bank access is involved.

Where is my financial data stored?

By default, in your own browser on your device. If you log in and choose to sync, a copy is stored in your account on this website, and you can delete it any time.

What is the 50/30/20 budget rule?

It is a simple guideline: about 50% of income for needs such as rent and groceries, 30% for wants, and 20% for savings and debt repayment. The planner applies it for you in one click.

What is zero-based budgeting?

You give every unit of income a job until income minus planned spending equals zero. The Budgets tab shows your unassigned income so you can get close to zero.

What is the difference between the debt snowball and avalanche methods?

Snowball pays the smallest balance first for quick wins. Avalanche pays the highest interest rate first and usually saves the most interest. The planner compares both with your numbers.

Can I use my own currency and number format?

Yes. Pick from many currencies, including USD, EUR, GBP and PKR, choose a regional number and date format, and enter manual exchange rates for other currencies.

How do I move my data to another device?

Open Workspace and download a JSON backup, then import it on the other device. If you are logged in you can also use account sync.

Can I export my budget to Excel or PDF?

Yes. Download a CSV that opens in Excel or Google Sheets. For a PDF, open Reports and choose Print, then Save as PDF in your browser.

Can I keep separate budgets for home and business?

Yes. Create extra workspaces in the Workspace tab and switch between them from the top of the planner.

Does the planner send reminders?

Reminders and due dates show inside the planner, on the dashboard and in the calendar. It does not send emails or phone notifications.

Is this financial advice?

No. The tool provides general budgeting help and calculations. For personal advice, speak with a qualified financial professional.

The Budget Planner Dashboard provides general information and calculations only. It is not financial, tax or legal advice.
